A Rough Start To Working In Second Life

After Mistress made the difficult decision to ban the Sleepychat website from our router a few months ago, I found myself without anything productive to do for really long time. After thinking things over, I made the decision to step back into Second Life again.

The first few weeks in Second Life, Mistress gave me the freedom to do what I wanted in-world. I asked her if I could buy a few outfits for my avatar, and she permitted me to do so. Well, I ended up taking that permission for granted, and did something really stupid. In one month alone, I spent $100.00 USD on new outfits for my avatar.

When Mistress saw my debit card statement online, she was shocked. We sat down, talked it out, and she decided that she would need to give me an allowance to spend on Second Life. This would be no more than $25.00 USD every month. Any additional Linden, would have to be EARNED by means of working in-world.

Well, of course the one thing I’m really good at is being a DJ. So for the last few days I’ve been teleporting around from sim to sim trying to find any populated place that would have me as a DJ. The biggest problems I ran into, is that most places either had no reasonable time slots open, were completely deserted, or weren’t hiring at all. I started to feel really hopeless... then suddenly, almost out of the blue, things started looking up!

Looking around on the Second Life search menu, I found a place called Chained & Collared. The owner heard me DJ and was absolutely floored. I was hired! Unfortunately, 2 days before my shift was supposed to start, the owner completely closed down the Sim.

So, I started looking around again and found a place called The Discipline Society. After reviewing my resumé online, they hired me immediately without an audition. However, I felt that the owner was a bit of a conceded jerk. He refused to hold contests (which would get people into the club) because he didn’t want anything on the walls of the club. Also, no one showed up for any of the DJs shifts except the management, and the hostesses wouldn't say anything in public chat! So, I changed my mind and decided that it wouldn’t be the best place for me to start out.

Then today, I found a place called Adult HUB. It was a place owned by a Scandinavian woman named Sejourn. There was a club on the upper floor called Club Nebula, so I clicked on the contact board, and tried to get in touch with someone who could get me a DJ application. After a few minutes, Sejourn introduced herself to me and told me to speak with another woman who was the DJ Manager of Adult HUB, but also mentioned that she was looking for a House DJ for a club that she too was opening on Monday. Curiously, I inquired more information about it.

She teleported me to her club (called SFC - Scandinavian Fetish Club) and after a brief tour of what was an absolutely incredible mansion, informed me that the House DJ would essentially be the head DJ of the club and would be in charge of managing, hiring, and firing any other DJs that applied afterwards, but I wasn’t ready for what she was about to say next…

This position pays a regular salary of 250 L per every hour the house DJ streams LIVE in the club (as long as that wasn’t already made in tips during a shift). In addition to the regular salary, I would get to keep any tips I received as well during my shows.
I was hesitant about everything that she was promising me due to my past experiences 2-3 years ago, but then she mentioned one last thing that pretty much sealed the deal for me - she said that she would also help pay for my stream every month. Right there and then, I agreed be her House DJ. After giving me a land tag, I helped build her a new stage, gave her a scheduling board, and hiring board.

The club is going to open on Monday January 11th at 12 PM SLT and I am eagerly looking forward to performing for all the residents that attend!
